Cougars Beat Weber State 2-0

Friday night BYU beat Weber State 2-0. We scored in the 1st minute on a great run by Brady Marshall who passed it back to Daniel McKinley for the goal. The second goal was scored by Brady in the 28th minute.
BYU was able to play the entire roster throughout the night. The shutout was split by Bryan Black and Quin Shepherd.

The Cougars are set to kick off at 7 pm Friday night vs the Wildcats of Weber. BYU played Weber in the fall. The Cougars won the fall match up 2-0 and are looking poised to do the same this time around. This will be one of a number of important pre-season matches for the Cougars who are preparing for their up-coming 2009 PDL season which will start May 9, in California.

The team is back in pre season action this Friday at 7pm at South Stadium. This will be a ticketed event with reserved seats available at: www.byutickets.com and at the gate. Reserved seats are $10, GA for Adults are $6 and GA for Students are $5
BYU vs. UNLV

The Cougars started out there pre-season with a win over the Mesa State Mavericks. The Cougars defense looked very solid posting a shut-out, while the offense was able to score 4 goals during the scrimmage.

This Saturday the Cougars will Face off against the Runnin Rebels of Las Vegas. Last year the Cougars lost to UNLV and hope to have a better showing this year. The team continues to try and improve every time they get together and the also seem to be bonding very well together as a team this year.
BYU vs. MESA STATE

The Cougars will be facing off against the Mavericks of Mesa State this Saturday at 4:30p.m. at South Field. BYU won last years match-up 2-0. Mesa State is a NCAA division II team out of Colorado. The fee for entering the game will be an old pair of soccer cleats or $5. The money earned from this game will be used to buy shoes and other items which will be taken on a service trip to Central America with Cause For Hope a non-profit organization.
Cause For Hope is an organization that helps people to become self reliant and also improve their lives in developing countries. Their vision is, “To become the most effective organization in creating lasting self reliance in the lives of thousands of families and their communities in developing countries.”
Its a Boy

Coach Sackett, and his wife Aubrey have had their baby. He was born early Saturday morning. They now have a boy in the family to join their daughter Bella. Both baby and Mom are doing well.

Tryouts Video Posted

Tryouts started bright and early this morning at 6:00 a.m. There were over 90 players in attendance, and with the one exception of a scheduling conflict with the Golf team, everything went pretty smooth. Players will be back in the IPF this afternoon at 5:00.

Trevor is the newest member of the BYU Soccer Team. He was member of the Region IV ODP team and a player for Utah’s La Roca club. Pictured signing our PDL contract with his club coach Adolfo Ovalle and BYU Coach Chris Watkins.
